Community Event Coordinator
Wake Up Narcolepsy, Inc.

JOB SUMMARY:
Wake Up Narcolepsy, Inc. (WUN) is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to serve as Community Event Coordinator. The successful candidate should be highly organized, detail oriented, self-directed, and passionate about serving individuals with a rare and invisible medical disorder and their families. The individual will be responsible for all logistical aspects of community events for a mission-driven, nimble entrepreneurial non-profit. Candidates must have three (3) years successful experience in the nonprofit sector developing and managing programs. Candidate will be a strategic problem-solving self-starter with excellent judgment and comfortable multi-tasking a diverse portfolio of responsibilities. This is a contracted, remote position and will report to the Program Manager.

Organization Background
Wake Up Narcolepsy Inc. (WUN) is a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization that aims to accelerate narcolepsy research, increase awareness, and provide educational and supportive services for people with narcolepsy and their caregivers. Based in Massachusetts, WUN was established in 2008 to bring greater awareness to narcolepsy, a rare and misunderstood, often misdiagnosed, serious medical disorder, and ultimately find a cure.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of patient-oriented missions focusing on advocacy and engagement
  • Knowledge of the philanthropic community, with preference for those with experience in the health industry
  • Knowledge and ability to engage with volunteers
  • Ability to handle all event logistics, coordinate with vendors, communicate with
    volunteers
  • The ability to be empathetic, engage in meaningful conversations, understand the struggles of those living with a disease, and the ability to navigate conversations
  • A willingness and ability to travel domestically
  • A self-starter, works independently, positive attitude; possesses excellent verbal, written, visual communication skills; highly organized with strong interpersonal and management skills; and ability to multitask
  • Experience developing and supervising volunteer committees
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, CRM system

DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Utilize the Neon-One CRM and the fundraising platform to manage the event
  • Coordinate all logistics for virtual and/or in-person local events across the country
  • Schedule meetings
  • Work with the Program Manager to identify volunteers and event prospects
  • Database and Records Management – Maintain security and quality controls. Generates queries, reports, exports, and any other collection data as needed. As needed, make recommendations on database management
  • Be available for special assignments and requests, which benefit Wake Up Narcolepsy objectives even when such projects require additional effort beyond standard working hours

Work Environment:
This is a remote position, 20-30 hours/week. 15-25% of time may be allocated for local travel.
