Alberta Night Walk WUN Town Hall Recap

Around 60 people attended the event on September 21st in Olds, Alberta, Canada!

Dana Overwater and Kali Leatherdale wanted to raise awareness for Narcolepsy after Dana’s daughter was recently diagnosed. They came up with a “Night Walk for Narcolepsy” and reached out to learn more about Wake Up Narcolepsy (WUN) local events.

Kelsey Bingham and Tracy Veit attended to represent WUN. Kelsey is a person living with Narcolepsy and Tracy is a parent of someone with Narcolepsy. They are both volunteer facilitators for WUN’s online support groups.

At the start of the event, Dana’s daughter’s and Kelsey’s experiences with Narcolepsy were shared. Attendees then grabbed some glow sticks and took part in a one mile night walk. Along the path, there were educational signs surrounded by lights.

After returning from the walk, everyone enjoyed forming connections with others and learning more about the disorder. It was a wonderful opportunity for the community to gain understanding.

Event sponsors included Paladin Pharmaceuticals.

WUN Town Halls are local events put on by Wake Up Narcolepsy and our volunteers in communities around North America. Learn more and see if there are upcoming events near you here!
