Wake Up Narcolepsy’s Boston Event- A Huge Success

The 70s came back in full swing as Wake Up Narcolepsy hosted their 3rd Annual Boston Comedy Event on Oct. 2, 2015. About 140 people attended The Revere Hotel as an evening of laughter and coming together for a good cause unfolded.

Comedians Dave Russo, Tony V and headliner Lenny Clarke put on a fantastic show and were well received by the event attendees. We thank you our speakers who educated the audience about narcolepsy and cataplexy. Liza Sockwell, a teen with narcolepsy, and Erin O’Neil, a mother of a newly diagnosed eight year old, shared their personal stories.

Special guests in attendance were Nicole Jeray, LPGA professional golfer with narcolepsy and cataplexy and Travis Roy, Boston resident and author of 11 Seconds. Travis sustained a spinal cord injury within 11 seconds of his first time on the ice for the Boston University ice hockey team. He founded the Travis Roy Foundation.

Wake Up Narcolepsy’s Executive Director and Co-Founder Monica Gow presented a check to Dr. Kiran Masky, Boston Children’s Hospital
We presented Dr. Kiran Maski, Boston Children’s Hospital, with a check to further investigate the survey data collected from 1800 respondents as part of the Unite Narcolepsy initiative during the 2013 FDA narcolepsy patient meetings.
This special event raised $60,000 for narcolepsy research into the causes, prevention, treatments and a cure for narcolepsy and increasing awareness amongst the public, educators and the medical community. For more information, please visit our website wakeup.qnewmedia.com.
