On May 19^th, 2009, Wake Up Narcolepsy hosted its First Annual Golf Outing at Wachusett Country Club in West Boylston. 120 golfers and 20 volunteers congregated around the check-in table for breakfast, coffee, and gift-bags.  By 10 a.m., the golfers were scattered throughout the 18-hole course, eager to begin the scramble-style tournament.

The tournament featured a Par 3 Contest, gourmet boxed lunches, refreshment stands, and prizes for the three top foursomes.  After a full day of golf, participants and volunteers gathered in the clubhouse to enjoy the evening together with a sit down dinner, silent auction, and raffle. The silent auction included such items as Red Sox and Patriot tickets, Boston sports memorabilia, high-end golfing equipment, and a Nintendo Wii System. The evening concluded with a short presentation by some of W.U.N.’s leaders.

Wake Up Narcolepsy is proud to announce that the first golf outing raised a remarkable $25,000. Proceeds will support research to find a cure for narcolepsy. WUN would like to thank the event sponsors, volunteers, and golfers for setting such a strong precedent for years to come. We look forward to seeing you again next year.
