http://www.wakeupnarcolepsy.org/ Narcolepsy is an autoimmune neurological sleep disorder affecting 1 in 2,000 people. Over 200,000 Americans and 3 million people worldwide have narcolepsy. Narcolepsy is not rare, but severely under-recognized and misdiagnosed as other disorders. It most often presents itself in childhood, adolescence or young adulthood, and lasts a lifetime. Narcolepsy’s effect on quality of life compares to Parkinson’s disease and epilepsy. There is currently no cure. Wake Up Narcolepsy is a non profit organization whose mission is to: Provide funding to accelerate a cure for narcolepsy Increase awareness of narcolepsy Decrease time-lapse from symptom onset to proper diagnosis Provide supportive resources for people with narcolepsy and their loved ones History Upon recognizing the great need to raise awareness and research funds for narcolepsy, Kevin Cosgrove teamed up with Monica and David Gow to establish Wake Up Narcolepsy, Inc. in 2008. Wake Up Narcolepsy has quickly become a national leader for narcolepsy research and awareness, as it is dedicated to funding research into the causes, prevention, treatments and a cure for narcolepsy while increasing awareness amongst the public. Every year, Wake Up Narcolepsy hosts various awareness-driven events and makes substantial contributions to cutting-edge narcolepsy research across the country. - See more at: http://www.wakeupnarcolepsy.org/about-wake-up-narcolepsy/#sthash.Xbe7c6M7.dpuf To find out more about Wake Up Narcolepsy visit our website: http://www.wakeupnarcolepsy.org To Donate for Narcolepsy awareness and research funding: https://www.wakeupnarcolepsy.org/donate/give-now/ To get involved in your community: http://www.wakeupnarcolepsy.org/get-involved/ Find us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/wakeupnarcolepsy Follow us on Twitter:https://twitter.com/wakenarcolepsy Youtube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/WakeUpNarcolepsy LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/wake-up-narcolepsy Instagram: http://instagram.com/wakenarcolepsy Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/wakenarcolepsy/ Blog: https://www.wakeupnarcolepsy.org/blog/
